Autumn wedding flowers

“Winter is an etching, spring a watercolor, summer an oil painting and autumn a mosaic of them all.” Stanley Horowitz.

I love autumn and I love autumn weddings. If you ask any of my couples, when we first sit down and chat about their wedding flowers and ideas I always say how lovely it is to use seasonal flowers. After all that is one of the wonderful things about living here, each season brings with it its own special flowers and foliage. Autumn is full of beautiful seasonal flowers that will add to the uniqueness of your wedding day. In this blog I will discuss a few of my favourite autumn bridal bouquets and the autumnal flowers used.

Let me know what you think?

This asymmetric, overflowing bouquet for this beautiful bride was full of colour and seasonal flowers. Blue agapanthus, celosia, scabiosa, echinops, rudbeckia and sedum - all autumn flowers. Then there were a load of roses, olive, ivy and eucalyptus too.

Helen carried this shower bouquet of seasonal autumnal flowers. Gorgeous anemones, ammi visigna, astilbe, roses and greenery. Not the traditional choice of autumn colours but still seasonal and perfect for this style of dress.

This bouquet was full of autumnal flowers. Biscuit amaranthus, dahlias, rosehips, rudbekia, symphoricarpos berries, hydrangea and these beautiful red oak leaves. There were also physalis (chinese lanterns) in the other displays. This really was the epitomy of autumn in a bridal bouquet.

I love this picture of the bridesmaids bouquets all in a row from Sarah and Ben’s at Caerphiilly Castle. These bouquets are a more traditional autumnal colour. These beauties comprised of chocolate cosmos, dahlias, skimmia, scabiosa seed heads, hypericum berries, little pine cones and roses.

Autumn doesn’t have to mean all orange, brown and red tones. In this hand tie bouquet for a November wedding I have used silver and ‘nude’ tones, I have used seasonal anemones, brunia berries, eryngium, roses and senecia cineraria. I love this image of this timeless bridal bouquet.

This picture of Sam holding Lily’s bouquet is perfection. This wedding is featured on my gallery page, click here (then scroll to Lily and Sam) to see more of this beautiful wedding. Lily wanted a bouquet which was more caramel in tone. Her loose style bouquet was full of autumn flowers, sedum, rose hips, crocosmia, grasses, astrantia, thistle, ranunculus and berried foliage. Those toffee roses stole the show. This really was a special bouquet and one of my all time favourites.

That’s all for now. What do you think? Do you have a favourite bouquet? Is an autumn wedding the season for you? As you can see there is such a variety of flowers and colours to choose from so you can have unique, beautiful, wedding flowers.
