Summer Festival Wedding

In the world of weddings, couples are constantly seeking unique and creative ways to celebrate their love. From rustic barn affairs to elegant garden soirees, the possibilities are endless. This wonderful couple embraced all things fun and opted for a summer festival wedding. Sophie and Ryan were married at Canada Lodge on one of the most beautiful summer days. The flowers were really important to Sophie. She wanted vibrant colours, eclectic decorations, and a joyful ambiance that will have her guests talking for years to come … my kind of wedding! When we first met we discussed the flowers and decor having a festival feel. She wanted glitter make up, a cocktail bar, ribbons, pinwheels and a rainbow of colours for her flower displays, there were endless opportunities for creativity and personalization.

Festival themed wedding ceremony

Canada Lodge provided the perfect canvas for vibrant decorations and to allow their guests to fully immerse themselves in the festivities. Your creativity can run wild when it comes to decorating your festival-themed wedding.

The ceremony wedding flowers colourful and so beautiful. The sweetest little pots of summer flowers were tied to the aisle chairs; filled with scented stocks, roses, bupleurum, sweet william and nigella. The perfect decoration for your wedding ceremony.

I created the most wonderful meadow arrangements for the pillars that frame the ‘I Do’ area. They were overflowing with summer flowers such as delphiniums, scabious, nigella, craspedia,, tanecetum, sweet william, mentha, roses and fuscia. I used seasonal flowers in all shapes and sizes to create that natural look and to make the arrangement appear that it had grown right there on the spot, in-keeping with that natural, festival theme.

Sophie and her friends decorated the back of the chairs with flowing colourful ribbons and the wooden arch - the backdrop to the wedding vows, was a curtain of technicolour ribbons, pom poms and colourful pinwheels.

Summer Festival bridal bouquets

For the bouquets Sophie wanted a riot of colour. Full of scent and texture, including herbs such as mentha and rosemary. These things are so important in a bridal bouquet and helps to make them memorable. Sophie gave me free reign on the choice of flowers, although she did specify using sunflowers, I loved it. I think I bought every variety of spray rose possible that week. The finishing touch was a stream of colourful ribbons as the binding, these were perfect for the summer festival theme and were stunning when caught by the summer breeze.

The bridesmaids carried smaller versions of Sophie’s bouquet.

The buttonholes were helianthus ‘sonja’ with the added blue of delphinium and the orange cartharmus.

Flower crowns for summer festival wedding

The bridal party completely embraced the free-spirited vibe of a summer festival-themed wedding with their attire. Flowy bohemian dresses adorned with the main item needed for a festival; you guessed it - a stunning flower crown, perfect for capturing that ethereal festival look. They were the star of the show. Each of the six bridesmaids and Sophie wore floral crowns. Each one was individual and a different colour, one was purple, one orange, one red etc (I told you it was a colourful wedding). These bridal crowns really stole the show and made for stunning pictures. On top of this Sophie wanted a number of simple ivy crowns made for the female guests. It was such a kind and thoughtful touch and so effective, it made for wonderful photos.

When it comes to decorating your summer festival wedding you should let your creativity run wild and this wonderful couple did that. Colourful ribbon bunting adorned the ceilings and decorated the chair backs. The table names were printed on vinyl and vibrant floral arrangements helped to create a festive atmosphere. The tables were dressed with gin bottles and little watering cans full of flowers; ready for the afternoon tea for the guests. I created the most stunning floral back drop for behind the top table. The colourful trailing flowers were interspersed with floating lace and ribbons; and a few festival pin wheels. The DIY touches really helped to add personality and charm to the decor.

By infusing their celebration with vibrant colours, playful decor, and a sense of whimsy, Sophie and Ryan created a wedding day that truly reflected their personalities and love story.

So what do you think? Are you ready to embrace the magic and let your creativity soar. If you're dreaming of a wedding that's as unique and vibrant as your love story, why not embrace the magic of a summer festival wedding.
