Wedding Flowers for a Stunning winter wedding at Canada Lodge

I have the most stunning winter wedding flowers to share with you today! Catrin and Elliot were married in January in Canada Lodge, Cardiff and totally went to town on the florals… my kind of wedding! Catrin opted for a rich colour palette; lots of burgundy and reds with touches of lilac and blue. She wanted the designs to be loose and natural and floral heavy. I dare you not to fall in love with this winter wedding at Canada Lodge, these images by Rock Salt Photography are incredible!

For the bouquets I used a variety of different roses all meeting the rich colour theme. The colours were perfect for a winter wedding at Canada Lodge. Tacazzi, Hotspot, Odilia and Enchantment roses were all used in varying shades of pink. I also used the sweetest lilac rose, Memory Lane and some blue Eryngium. For a winter wedding I obviously had to use my favourite flower the Ranunculus and butterfly Ranunculus. The deep purple Scabiosa ‘Red Velvet’ and burgundy Astrantia finished the look. On the handle of Catrin’s bouquet I attached an image of her father which led to a beautiful emotional moment when I handed over the bouquet.

The bridesmaids carried smaller versions of the bridal bouquet. For the flower girls I made simple rose wands. I recommend these as a way for little ones to carry flowers but without the expense of a bouquet, just in case they change their minds and refuse to carry flowers; also, just look, absolutely adorable.

Winter wedding at Canada Lodge ceremony flowers.

The ceremony winter wedding flowers at Canada Lodge were stunning, if I say so myself. The backdrop to the vows was this wooden arch decorated with sections of garlands full of flowers, no floral foam was used #nofloralfoam. The sweetest little jars of bridal flowers were tied to the aisle chairs, they were filled with roses, eryngium, scabiosa and astrantia; these doubled up as arrangements for the wedding breakfast. For the registry table Catrin wanted a glass footed bowl overflowing with bridal flowers. I truly love making these arrangements, something about the simplicity of the bowl with the flowers, stunning. The pillars were adorned with simple garlands of winter foliage. The ceremony looked amazing, the perfect decoration for a winter wedding ceremony.

Anne-Marie bought our vision for a jewel toned wedding to life with the most beautiful flowers ever! I cried when I saw them and just couldn’t stop smiling.

Nothing was to much bother for her, and it was so lovely to have a florist that was so relaxed (she definitely had a calming effect on me) 😊.

My friends are still talking about the stunning hanging flower curtain that you arranged. One word: Perfection!

Diolch yn fawr / Thank you for everything!

Reception room - winter wedding flowers at Canada Lodge.

The flowers for the wedding breakfast downstairs were just as beautiful. The tables were decorated with jars full of the beautiful wedding flowers and a flat lay of eucalyptus. Catrin and Elliot decided to have a circular top table, this was differentiated by the other tables with the footed bowl from the ceremony room. But the wow factor of this wedding was the floral curtain which sat behind the top table, in front of the mirror. These are so time consuming to make but they are really worth the effort. It is the perfect statement piece for these winter wedding flowers at Canada Lodge and I think you’ll agree, it’s stunning and so effective.

Catrin’s Mum wore a lapel corsage in keeping with the bridal flowers. The groomsmen wore buttonholes of the lilac Memory Lane rose, blue eryngium and eucalyptus.
