Classical winter wedding flowers at Canada Lodge

With the weather turning more wintery this last week I thought it was the perfect time to share this beautiful classical winter wedding with you all. The luscious foliage along side the red roses and blue eryngium (thistle) was perfect for this December wedding. Just look how beautiful it was.

Leah and Jack were married on a clear Winters day in one of the most stunning wedding venues of South Wales, Canada Lodge. A gorgeous lakeside venue nestled in the countryside. The lodge ceremony room has a rustic feel with crackling wood burning fires, overlooking the fishing lake, it really is perfect for a Winter wedding..

These photos from Fire and Ice are wonderful, as you will see. I absolutely loved this wedding, it was an absolute pleasure working with this gorgeous couple on their wonderful day.

Get ready to feast your eyes on some classical winter wedding flowers inspiration!

Classical winter wedding flowers bridal bouquets

Leah wanted bouquets that embraced the winter season. She wanted easy to carry hand tie bouquets that did not overwhelm her dress, loose style but not too wild. For the bouquets I used these beautiful deep reds and silver tones; Leah was really trusting with the designs and was open to my suggestions. A few varieties of red roses were used in the bouquets: ‘Explorer’ and ‘Black Bacarra’ alongside ‘Rubicon’ spray roses. For the festive touches I added some silver brunia berries, blue eryngium and wired in some little pine cones. Seeded eucalyptus and a little pine and cedar finished the look adding texture and interest, if you have looked at any of my other work you will find this is definitely my style. Leah was really happy with the final result.

Her beautiful bridesmaids carried bouquets slightly smaller in size which perfectly complimented their navy dresses.

The flower girls carried a simple single ‘Explorer’ rose and seeded eucalyptus tied with trailing ribbon. These accompanied their cute ivy flower crowns. I often recommend that the flowers girls carry a single rose, especially if you are not sure they will even carry flowers down the aisle; you never know if the nerves will get to the little ones. These two look adorable.

Groomsmen flowers

The groomsmen wore simple buttonholes of wired ‘avalanche’ roses which accompanied their red bow ties. But the beautiful groom was adventurous with his flowers. He wanted to wear a beautiful pocket square of flowers. I love creating these for the more daring groom. It suited Jack perfectly.

Canada Lodge classical winter wedding ceremony flowers

The ceremony flowers at the Lodge were kept seasonal and simple.

The aisles were decorated with simple bundles of wintery foliage; eucalyptus, ivy, pine and cedar bundles were tied with trailing navy ribbon.

Foliage lay on the floor amidst scented pillar candles.

I also added mixed foliage garlands to the pillars and small floral displays of red roses and blue eryngium to the display shelves.

The registry table was decorated with a luscious, six foot long, thick mixed foliage runner with added red roses.

These displays were perfect for the classical wedding wedding flower theme.

The display for the top table was transferred downstairs from the registry table upstairs. The guest tables were kept simple with a floating candle display and single Explorer rose and stem of blue eryngium in a crackle vase. I sat these on a wooden slice and hessian runner. Flat lays of foliage completed the look.

The wedding cake was so beautiful and worked perfectly with the classical winter wedding theme. Red roses, eryngium and foliage decorated the three tiers.

This room is always such a wonderful space to dress, with the surrounding beautiful views this venue is truly hard to beat.
