There are some weddings that stay with you long after the last petal falls. A recent spring celebration at the beautiful Rosedew Farm in the Vale of Glamorgan was exactly that kind of day — joyful, relaxed, brimming with colour and seasonal flowers that feel as though they've been gathered straight from a wild meadow.

Here at Petal Power, we are a wedding florist based in South Wales with over 18 years of experience creating flowers for couples at some of the most beautiful wedding venues across the region. Rosedew Farm is a very special place — a working farm venue that lends itself perfectly to relaxed, natural celebrations where natural looking flowers can truly shine.

The Brief: Bright, Seasonal, and Joyful

From the very first conversation with Alice and Mike, the vision was clear: bold, bright, and seasonal. No formality, no muted tones. They wanted spring in full celebration mode.

Working with seasonal wedding flowers is something I am deeply passionate about at Petal Power. Not only is it more sustainable and cost-effective, but there's a magic to using blooms that are at the very height of their natural season. For a colourful spring wedding in South Wales, that means a spectacular palette to play with.

The Bridal Crown: A Moment That Stopped the Room

Let's talk about the crown. Because we have to talk about the crown.

This bold bride chose a full flower crown and it was, without question, one of the most stunning pieces I have created. A generous crown packed with the full seasonal palette: iris, hellebores, paperwhites, forget-me-nots, daisies and roses all intertwined in a riot of spring colour.

These flower crowns are having a beautiful renaissance in bridal fashion right now, and it's easy to see why. There's something celebratory about a bride crowned with flowers. When she walked down the aisle at Rosedew Farm, crown in place, the effect was genuinely breathtaking.

The Sister's Flower Comb

The bride's sister wore a beautifully crafted floral hair comb featuring deep purple iris — a simpler piece, but no less considered. It tied her to the bridal look without overpowering, and the bold purple colour was a real statement.

Hair combs are a wonderful option for bridesmaids, mothers of the bride, or anyone who wants to wear flowers without the commitment of a full crown. Even one well-placed seasonal bloom can transform a look entirely.

The Ceremony Arch: A Garland in Spring

Rosedew Farm's ceremony space is perfectly suited to a floral arch, and this one did not disappoint.

A full, lush colourful floral garland was draped across the arch, packed with every bloom from the bridal palette. This is where the textures I love so much at Petal Power really come into their own — the airy forget-me-nots softening the structure of the iris, the hellebores adding those gorgeous downward-facing faces, the daffodils catching the spring light.

A wedding ceremony arch decorated with seasonal flowers creates an instant focal point that frames the couple during the most important moment of their day. In person this looked even more vibrant.

The Aisle: Jam Jars and Wildflower Charm

Running the length of the aisle, small glass jam jar arrangements were dotted at intervals, each one with a handful of spring blooms lovingly arranged.

This is one of my favourite wedding flower ideas at Petal Power, especially for relaxed venues like Rosedew Farm. Jam jars feel unpretentious and they suit the farm setting perfectly. They are also easy for guests to take home as a memento. They create a beautiful sense of flowers scattered along your path as you walk towards your loved one.

If you're planning a relaxed wedding in South Wales and want flowers that feel like they belong rather than being imposed upon the venue, this approach is one I always recommend.

Why Seasonal Spring Wedding Flowers Are Worth Celebrating

After 18 years as a wedding florist in South Wales I can honestly tell you that when you work with the season, your flowers always look their best.

Spring is an extraordinarily generous season for a florist. The blooms available — hellebores, narcissi, iris, forget-me-nots, tulips ( I could go on). They are not only beautiful in their own right but they work together.

This colourful wedding at Rosedew Farm was a celebration of spring in its fullest sense.
